Nikon AF-S 24-120mm f4 G IF-ED VR Zoom

A Versatile all-rounder - Nikon AF-S 24-120mm f4 G IF-ED VR

A great lens to have if you can only carry one lens is the Nikon 24-120mm f4 G VR. This is an incredibly versatile lens with a well-rounded feature set to render it useful in almost any situation. The 5x optical zoom range starts at a very handy 24mm for your landscapes and other wide needs, zooming into a telephoto 120mm for tightly-cropped portraiture and reaching across the playground to the kids. A bag of optical features ensures excellent performance, while the constant f4 aperture means the lens is a good option for low-light shooting and action.

The Nikon 24-120mm includes Nikon's fantastic silent wave motor, resulting in autofocus that as the name suggests is barely perceptible audibly. This makes it a very useful lens in the modern age, with most new DSLRs featuring video shooting. This focus motor is also fast, a necessary trait for both stills and video; this lens will quickly and easily lock your subjects into focus, so be ready to fire!

In keeping with its reputation as a take everywhere lens, the Nikon 24-120mm is excellent as a handheld low-light tool thanks to the constant f4 aperture and VR stabilisation. The aperture rating allows you to use faster shutter speeds than would be possible with a lesser lens, while the VR combats and camera shake and resulting blur, leading to sharper images for instances when slower shutter speeds are necessary. Basically, you are well equipped to continue shooting and let the lens worry about the rest.

From the Nikon 24-120mm f4 G VR lens, you can expect sharp and detailed pictures, free from any detriments. Nikon has achieved this through the use of Extra-low dispersion glass, Aspherical lens elements, Nanocrystal coating and super integrated coating. Leave it to Nikon to use their wealth of optical experience to develop such a flexible all-around lens.
